This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Dude! Your work always amazes me and this is no exception. You have to be one of the best organic modellers I know and your blinking textures are off the planet.

hey j, this looks cool.
this is ur best model ive seen user added image
it would be a nicer touch if the ears were pertruding instead of extruding like a humanoid. by that i mean if the ear was going inside the head as oppose to sticking out, sort of like an aliens ear. it looks really odd to have such a familiar humanoid ear on this type of head.

Thanks, Ive had a lot of feedback from dudes at work also who think this is my best yet too.

Yeah the ear...

I did a load of sketches for this as I wasnt sure, I had strange receptors and tentacle things too as if he would pick up sound waves, I did think of the 'Alien hole in the head' too but I think theres always the risk of someone going 'whats that thing on his head?' or 'why's that hole there?' ya know some people dont get it so I just made the decision to do something that everyone can relate to instantly, I have 2 more aliens to do so maybe I'll integrate the hole on the Bartender Alien as hes a bit more outlandish so it may work straight away and people will get it.

how cool advanced stuff....on the lower arm which is twisted i can see that you know how the muscles n stuff has to be modeled...i notice that u know what to do to make it realistic...

how long did u need for the separate parts?

Well its difficult to say how long each bit takes as some parts are easier than others. The boots took about an hour to do for example, the head was probably a couple of days max, but because im working on and off in the evenings I'd say the whole thing was about 3-4 days overall...I thinkuser added image
