Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

UV-mapping

Hi There.

I know this is a very basic question, but here it goes:

I converted a nurbs plane into a polygon, and I moved some edges. Now the UV's are distorted. I can't fix it?! Not even by remapping the UV's.

Can you help me please?

I've attached a pic that (hopefully) illistrates the problem...

Thanks in advance...

You can move the UVs in the UV Texture Editor, but I think simply doing a planar projection map would fix it rather easily.

Thanks very much for your help mtmckinley, but I can't do a planar projection. I've tried several times with different settings, but the texture remains distorted?!?

The sample image I posted is very simple compared to my actual problem, so moving UV's manually is not really an option I'm afraid (it would take too long time)...

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

At last user added image

I solved my problem by creating UV's based on the camera, which of course was orthogonal on the polygon plane.

I stilll wonder why it didn't work with the planar projection?!

Does anybody know that?

Thanks mtmckinley for putting on the right track user added image
