particles through filter

I am also wondering about the following: i tried to make particles pass through a hole in an object (which I created through a Boole operation), but no matter at what stages in the modelling process I delete the history, the particles won't go through but behave as if the object was solid without a hole at that location.
Any ideas how to avoid this?

Thanks
Stefany
