images

how do i take an image from photoshop or an image i have saved on my computer to maya for editing? i want to know if its possible to take an outline from an image to create something in maya. i have a car imag and want to take that because i dont know how to model one.

There are two ways that I know of to do this...

1. Go to the view menu in the window that you want to import the image. Click Image plane>Import image. It is a good idea to set the window to default view before doing this.

or...

2. Just make a polygon plane and assign the image to the plane in hypershade. You can also make the plane see through and therefore easier to work with by going to the relevant viewport and clicking shading>x-ray.

thanks i know of that way i thought there was an easier way to model the image i guess i have to learn how to do it. is the haunted house modeling tutorial a good one?

I am afraid I haven't tried the haunted house tutorial.

Maybe I didn't understand your question correctly (sorry), but if you are trying to copy an outline from your drawing, once you have imported the image, just use the cv curve tool or the create polygon tool to draw your outline.
