Ball of light in final gathering?

Dear reader, I hope you can help me with question!

How can I render in maya 6.5 with final gathering a lightsource like a street with lantern lighting the sidewalk nicely in the mentalray look! (ball of light) (create pointlight doesn't work)

Which MayaMaster can help me out here. I would be verry Thankfull!

Lol, I dont know about me being master, but its nice to give people that impression user added image

ALright, drop the entire sphere with high incandescence. Keep final gather. Go into hypershade and create (under mental ray lights) a physical light with the color of the street lamp. place it at its place and watch it work.

Maybe turning global illumination on might help a whole lot too
