Default Mental Ray can't render IBL in long distance

This is an emergency. I was rendering with Mental Ray Maya 8 with IBL sphere. Floor is a NURBS Plane with DGS for reflection.

With the resolution gate on, as soon as I render the last frame and the plane floor is outside the resolution gate, it renders black.

So I put another NURBS plane to make a wall with the DGS node, but it reflected all the IBL light straight to the racercar and I can still see black where there is no geometry in the 3d space.

What should I do?

Many thanks.

that's a pretty confusing explanation, and drawing all over the picture didn't really help. can you post a wireframe of your scene and then a render, with an explanation of what you want?

unless you really want to see your ibl sphere in your render then i'd say fill your 'empty black space' with something, so then it's no longer empty and you won't get the black.
Accept no substitutions.
