dude, find motivation.., (Im one to talk??). its washout out, well not washed out, its too dark.., all your work is in shadow.., b just spend another hour putting rim lights on objects to bring them to the fore. you know, we see things in the dark by the light that falls on things, or theres a rim of light on things.., hard to explain but you know what I mean. Im going to be honest, this could be amazing if you just made it pop by putting some reflected moon light on some of the objects.

I’d have to agree with mirek03. The lighting just doesn’t seem right to me.

thats why they make tuts.., because there is no easy answer.., it comes after practice and learning (tuts again). I have no idea myself but if I was in your position.., id learn to do what I needed for this scene. Im too busy with other stuff beside maya and Ill never earn money out of it so for me.., its a hobby, I just want to have fun. If I dont finish something, i leave it until i can or Im good enough to.

you, dont know, you might have time to kill in which case you have the time to make this pop some.

i just learn what I need to do for which ever project is needed. I find if I dont work at maya, probably would be better to teach maya, I forget maya.., so something I did 6 months ago.., even a month ago, the batman light.., id struggle to remember.

what Im saying is, there is no easy answer, seek and ye shall find.., you could start with the gnomon maya lighting tuts from dvd1 through to 3.., its actually pretty exciting stuff and you'll be the lihting king if SM by the end of the week.

or get a book on three piont lighting, but remember this is 3D and learn to use your light linker

good luck

heres a guess, only two lights used, dont know if you need much more just to rim the objects.., hope someone who actually knows will help you..,

see the spot light from behind, forms a cresant of light on the balls from behind.., thats a rim light. i used linear decay if you are looking at intensities.
