maya2009 - normalmaps

anyone else noticed differences in normalmap generation with maya2009 compared to previous versions?

have a look at the pic

from left to right:
source - target - final geometry

no matter which settings, maya dosn´t bake normals like it should anymore. ideally the panels on the right should look exactly like the panel on the left. but there is this funny shading. it became impossible to bake hard flat surfaces with soft corners into the NM.

(ps: I´ve allready baked a million normalmaps. so by now I am pretty sure it must be either a bug or they changed the way normals are calculated from scratch)

desperately your´s
