Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Hey Coldwave..... I didn't see this thread down here.

Nice model. The face looks good, and the body does too. But I think the arms are a bit too long, and the legs are way too short. Also he seems a bit narrow at the hips.

Other than that he's looking good!

So, i would say just work on your proportions. And a bit of anatomy, though at this poly level your not going to need to worry about that too much. Just try and get the proportions and weight down at the mo..... then details.

Also, wire look good too. You might have some problems around the face, as you have a lot of vertical and horizontal edges, and not too many profile edges..... hard to explain, just edges that conform to the masses of the face, like the loops you have around the eyes and mouth. I'm not too sure though. I think yours should be fine.

Nice work!

I've fixed the legs/arms and i will work more on the mesh... but we decide that this won't be the main character so i'm waiting now concept and i will model another one ... keep in touch !

Model [ 2 ]

1253 polys
There is a bit to touch but it's somehow finished here is the concept and the model. I get a bit out of the concept due to the big hand don't look good @ the model so i think this version is better ... i've cleared all the unnecessery faces C&C welcome.

hey that's pretty cool

like the gnom fellow, i assume you are going to puff the right arm up and shrink the left arm down like in the concept

nice work on the weapon, why is it dark at the top? did you soften the edges? are you goign to give it that flat-ish round-ish panel on the top as well?

i'm impressed you can work with such a small monitor user added image

I've model the gnom guy with the big hand but it's not looking better than this model.

Yeah i soften the edge. No i'm not going for the round thing because this way it looks better.

I'm workin ot 14`` monitor it's nightmare but i can't afford something bigger. I'm poor... But that dose not make me worse i think user added image

Looks good.

I think the character lost a bit of originality and character when you decided to go for a more uniform look, but looking at the model with the large arms i think i agree that he looks better with the smaller arms.

Anyway, nice work.
