Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Problem with hierarchies

Hi I'm a newbie to Maya and I'm learning about heirarchies at the moment.

I am able to show the tree of hierarchies in the outliner for my set of objects. However when I select my parent object, it shows all the objects under it as selected in the window, but they don't move as one object when I try to move them together. Only the parent object moves. (same with scaling & rotating)

Is there a setting in Maya thats stopping this from happening? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks so much for any help.

There's a setting called "preserve child transform". I can't quite remember where it's located (maybe your move tool settings?), but it's possible you have this turned on.
