Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Are you using the channel box or the manipulator input box? Also, I don't know if language settings affect this, but are you using . or , as a decimal point?

Well, I made a tube now (example) and tried the extrude with 0.05 , with me it works. I feel the increment in size due to extrusion.
But I use maya unit system as default (1unit=1cm), is this related to your problem,do you use maya default system units?)

I have Maya 2014 SP2.
