mapping images into fluid containers

I read Duncan's Corner on The Area about mapping an hurricane image into a fluid container. he put it into a 2d container but still got a thin 3d effect. https://area.autodesk.com/blogs/dunca...s_using_fluids

I still can not understand the description he gave about the mapping or attaching the image in. He gave many different approaches. But his description were very condensed. Can anyone give me a more step by step and detailed description of this.

Thank you
