Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

procedual rocks modeling possible?

Hello,

as a new Maya User, i think its normal to compare this software with the one i used before user added image. So when i create a outdoorscene, i want to place some rockes and stones and so on in the scene. So in Blender, it is possible to create this rocks with a couple of displacements modifiers and when you link this on a ohter object, it has always automatically a other form when you copy and move the copy. This way is a very fast way to generate random rocks, explicit when you spread this with an particle system over the scene. no one rock or stone looks like the other.

Now, is something like this also possible with maya in any way? this way is also possible with shaders. so have every rock a light other skin.

it would spend a lot of time, expecially when you will create a scene maybe at a canyoun or a little creek or so.

You can make the ground mesh "live" then spray the mesh with particles these can then be converted to mesh instances...............dave
