I know how to set the pivot point on an object... But when I rotate in the perspective view, how do I set the point I rotate around??

Thanks

if you meen the point you rotae your viewport then you can just select an object you want to tumble around, and hit F for fit view. then you will automatically tumble around that object.

Good luck

I know that - but at one time I had no object selected, and when I rotated, instead of rotating around the origin I was rotating around the corner of the grid user added image

when you have nothing selected just hit "F" and it'll tumble around the origin! Hope this helps... but you may have already figured this out...
