Most of those tuts apply only to MAYA 4.5. I have PLE 4.

Whats a MEL script, and could that solve my problem? Is it just an automation of the existing tools, or could I write a short extension to the move tool?

You can do pretty advanced stuff with mel scripting. Mayas interface is basicly a large number of mel-scripts. Maya 5 PLE is out, you might want to try it (it's free after all).

Heheh Im setting up my website for unreal engine static meshes this weekend user added image

I dont know of an ActorX pluggin for PLE v5 so make sure you can export your file to a .ase before you go ahead and take the plunge. It would really suck to make your mesh then not be able to import it in the Ued.

A little bit more advice would be to get the scale in maya before you import your model. 1 cm in Maya is the same as 1 unreal unit. So any model you make comes out really tiny unless you build it scaled up in maya, while Ued does have draw scale, I never liked using it as its not very friendly, its alot easier, and will save you alot of bother to scale things up in maya.

np -I have a MEL script written that converts the selected objects to a set, adds the scale, package and group attributes etc, setting the scale to 16 automatically.

Edit:
@Dann - there is a comma in your link above that messes it up. Even when I remove it I can't get to the alias website as it tells me the connection was refused.
(They really don't want me to have PLE 5 do they....)

The sites back up - I still can't see a download link - I get the option to order one on CD, and then get told the download will be available in fall 2003.

Am I looking in the wrong place?
