Making a dogtag chain

I need to make one of the ball chains like the US military uses for their dog tags (seen in link: https://www.kidsidbracelettags.com/im...ili_dogtag.jpg ). Is there an easier/quicker way than making a single sphere, duplicating it, moving it, duplicate, etc? Can one duplicate along a curve?

TIA

There is a script on highend3d.com somewhere called "pathdup", I think?
Try a search for it, I used it ages ago and it worked a treat. It duplicates along a path to your specifications.

i'm trying to use this pathDup script...but i'm not sure if i have the right kind of path... used cv curve to make the path i want it to duplicate along, selected object and then path and ran pathDup, nothing happened. tried changing settings and still couldn't get it to duplicate. am i using the wrong kind of path? nataliia, did you get this to work? if so, what steps did you take? thanks much!
