The anime character (ear part)

Hi im at the ear part of the anime character video tutorial,
When kurt tells me to convert the ear in subd's it doesnt work...
I already remodeled the ear twice, and got the same problem again..
This is what i got:

It says to use polygons --> cleunup, whitch the normanifold option, i did this and the ni made it to subd's and the ni get this:

You need to merge your verts, Drop the tolerance down very low highlight all your verts and merge them.

x ray

ya merge your verts in xray mode so you can see them all if theres any hiding.then try to convert again.i would up the base mesh faces to or that might give you problems later.

you should have xray on your shelf if you dont want to run into problems like these again.
