Israeli director and screenwriter Ari Folman presented his new movie Where is Anne Frank at the Cannes Film Festival this week. It met with positive reviews from critics, who enjoyed the imaginative storytelling. The animated feature mixes the historical with the contemporary and the supernatural. For the animation, it uses mainly 2D animation with stop-motion in certain scenes. If the trailer is anything to go by, it’s beautifully done.

Folman is famous for Waltz with Bashir, an animated documentary war drama, which received an Academy Award-nomination for best foreign-language film. He also directed the live-action/animated hybrid film The Congress.
