Better After Effects integration in Maya 2017

Steven Roselle, Senior Technical Specialist at Autodesk, has already looked at Illustrator, vector graphics support and Photoshop integration in Maya in his videos. He's also covered MASH, Maya's motion graphics toolkit, and general text animation in Maya.

Now he looks at After Effects integration in Maya 2017 update 3. The inoperability between Maya and After Effects has been significantly extended. Using procedurally animated elements created with MASH and text created with Maya's type tool, that's then rendered on individual layers, he shows us how these can be opened in After Effects. You can then move back and forth between After Effects and Maya, getting an After Effects 2D text element to track the Maya 3D rendered element.

You can also link the timelines between Maya and After Effects, so that the After Effects timeline will update when you scrub the Maya timeline.
