Morph Animation Competition 2015 - Create Your Morph Story

Aardman Animations, the creators of Morph, have launched a fun looking competition this week. The brief is simple, keep it short and sweet. To join you need to create your own Morph animation at around the one minute mark, upload it to YouTube and send in the link.

There are two categories, one for people under 16 and one for those over. The winners will have their videos featured on the Morph YouTube channel and the top price in both categories is a golden statue of Morph himself.

The deadline is just over a month from now on 18th September 2015. As Morph lives on a desk you already have the environment set up and ready to go. All you need is some clay and a simple camera to shoot the frames with. A phone or tablet will do the trick. For all the details check out the competition website here.

The competition will be judged by Merlin Crossingham, director of the recent Morph series, and Peter Lord, co-creator of Morph. Lord himself began animating as a hobby when he was a teenager with very rudimentary equipment. With time this turned into Aardman Animations, the studio that has created Wallace and Gromit among many other wonderful things.

After a successful Kickstarter to bring back Morph, a series of all new adventures were launched last year. If you're looking for some story tips these episodes can be found on Morph's YouTube Channel, along with the old series that originally aired on BBC in the 1970's. Here you'll also find animation tips from Merlin, who's been adding a new one every day this week.
