So I'm following the tutorial about the yeti. And i found out I want to call it Odd, after my dad. (His name is Odd). ;)
My yeti is gonna be abit more muscular, and have different face, and also have some adjustments to the hands and feets.
I have started on the 3rd part where i'm attaching the arms to the chest.
Is there any problems with this "set up" of polygons?

is "Odd" really your dads name or is it just a nickname.

Hehe, no it's his real name :) It's a norwegian name, (something norse, think it means sharp, like the thing on the front of an arrow).
Kinda funny, my dad works in a big company and have many international meetings etc..
For example:
"Hello I'm Even, Are you Odd?"
"Yes Hello, I'm Odd. Nice to meet you Even."
Note: Even is also a common norwegian name. Though I think the name "Odd" will become rarer in future, because we live in a globalized world.
Ps.
I got really lucky with combining legs and chest, I think. It looks really good :) (hope it "binds" well, when i'm gonna rig it)
I not completely done shaping the legs, it needs some more tweaks.

Kurt had 3 toes and 4 fingers, but i wanted his body to look kinda humanoid :)
I'm currently remaking the face, because I didn't get happy with the first. Soon gonna start on tutorial part 4 :) But need to tweak the face abit more. I'm not happy with it :( Though I want it to be abit more alien type... in a way...
(I have shorter arms than the tutorial)

And my head with my own style of ears. :)
Ps. He is gonna have that wide smile :attn:
(I used polygons to subdiv)

The foot... got troubles sewing it up :)
Because i don't know what type of polygon is best... If it matters that you have 4 edges going into each verticy, or if it's ok to have only 3 edges aslong as the polygons are 4 siders...
It was eigther this solution or having alot of the type of polygons below (which i try to illustrate with the "drawing")

Hey Red-Lion!
Looking really interesting! Cant wait to see what it looks like when it has fur!
As for the geometry, i would change the direction of the edges around the shoulders in a more circular pattern, much like you would for the eyes and mouth.
Gud luck!

Cool, I am doing the Yeti but on my free time, like... I only got part 0 of the Yeti tutorial(the reference pics) so I am just doing that. Are Polys easier to work with than NURBS? I am having problems with NURBS...
looking cool and like a monkey,

I find nurbs a fast way to get the proporsions i want. Then go over to polygons and split and move around. When i now discovered how i could work with subdivisions it's almost like you don't need Nurbs. But if you get problems with nurbs, i'm sure people here on this board can help you :)
To arfanahmed786:
Thanks for the tips mate, I have fixxed it some, and gonna look and see if I can do even more. I hope to rig it some day :)

Cool. You know what is intensly annoying? I did almost the whole model in polys and when I was just about to save it said
" Maya 6.5 has encountered problems and needs to close.
we are sorry for this inconvenience."
:headbang: so im finally(after 3 hours) going to make it again and save it often so it doesnt do that again :)
bobalie
P.S. good luck with furring and rigging the little guy.

It doesn't look like the tutorial contains rigging, so I need to download another tutorial to make it. Got some exams coming up soon, so maybe the updates will not come so often.

Bobalie, i hate it when Maya does that! I always save in increments now and then and also do Edit - Delete by type history now and then too (but make sure you are in your lowest polygon form!)
As for the rigging, i would recommend the "Low Poly Rigging" tutorial.
