Dammit! I loaded this POS on thinking it was something else... its NASSSSTTTYYYY!!

Good luck dude.
Been trying to "trully" uninstall it for months.

Thankfully I´m starting a full HD format in two weeks.

In your control panel -> Add/Remove Programs

"Windows Media Player system update (9 series)"

that's what it sais on my pc... (or aren't you a PC-user? :))

hmmm...

---------------------------
Windows Media Player 9 Series
---------------------------
Microsoft Windows Media Player rollback is now complete.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

just uninstalled it... started up my media player... it's the original media player again. So it's working for me.

adldesigner 04-06-2003 11:35 AM

It´s still there. Believe me.

Kevin 04-06-2003 11:42 AM

its lurking everywhere...hiding in all the nooks and cranys of your hard drive

genius995 04-06-2003 11:48 AM

It's really gone here...
But I've done some googling... I'm using W2K... so there's no problem uninstalling it.

But WinXP and WinME users can't uninstall it. M$ didn't build a uninstall option in it, because of the integration of the OS and Media Player.
According to what I found, the only way to uninstall Media Player is:
a. reinstall WinXP/ME
or
b. (on XP) a System Restore to a point before you installed MP9

Buahahaha. That´s what its making you think man. It´s everywhere. He´s stalking you. I tell you man, he messes with your head. He will destroy your computer ... all the while you thinking "It's really gone here...".

genius995 04-06-2003 11:56 AM

adldesigner ... you're scaring me :eek2:

:P

You could uninstall whole Media Player with a RunDll32 command. The only problem is that MP8 will be gone too.

Sounds interesting mate.
Care to elaborate?
Would this destroy files needed by Zoomplayer?

genius995 04-06-2003 12:06 PM

ehm... you were right...
just checked the .inf file of MP8. It has some references to V9 :(

M$ : :finger2:

I don't know if it removes files that ZoomPlayer needs when you remove it. (I guess not??)

I did NOT test it... But I know it will uninstall all the things that are needed by MP only.

Search your hard drive for "wmp.inf" ... mine is in winnt\inf...
Then use this line as a Run command:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\wmp.inf,Uninstall

Worst Case Scenario: reinstall WinXP

Ehmm... well...
I don't think it will happen. But if something goed wrong...

This uninstall line will delete files from your system, that are given in the wmp.inf config file. So if something is wrong in the wmp.inf, it will delete wrong files.

But I can say, that I'm 85% sure, nothing will go wrong. (with your XP system, I don't know if Zoom Player uses files that are used by WMP too)
