Videocard upgrade

Hi,

I´m a so called neewbie at Maya, and working with a GeForce2 card. What I heard and read and found out myself it is not the best card to work with in Maya, to put it mildly.

So, has anyone worked with a Geforce4, and did it preform well, or you know a good alternative.
I´m on a tight budget, so can´t aford a bigtime pro-card.

Chris.

GF4 ti4400 here....and no problems yet  ....a nice card

I've got a GF4 ti 4200 and had no problems so far, except a slow startup of xfree86 under linux, but this is rather a configuration problem I think.
Well, and just to mention it this one is about 90 Euro cheaper than the 4400Series.
BTW when you buy a new Video Card and you have enough memory don't spend extra money to buy a card /w 128 MB ...
64MB are working fine in most cases and if the card needs more memory it will use your RAM anyway.

im using a 64mb Radeon 8500 at the moment and as long as you get the right drivers its fine.

But i saw in a magazine the other day that the ATI FireGL 8700 is retailing for around £200 but is optimized for 3d rather that gaming. so if you want a less expensive specialised card that might be a good choice. (althought i dont know how much better it is that a standard gaming card)

Probably the best place to find out what you need to know is here:

except for pricing.
Hope it helps.
