Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

realistic button

Hi!

I tried to render a realistic button, but Im stuck. user added image

I dont get a glossy realistic looking surface.

but I dont wanna have a enviroment (like hdri) as a reflection ... maybe some ideas?!

atm I use a phong shader as surface

and 2 spots a lightning

cosine power 40
spec color middle grey
reflective 0.5

lol why ever to preview is in inverted colors user added image ... but the original is in the right colors

Update: fast 3 min rendering ...

I changed spotlight to 1 area light and switched on, that the light is shown as a object. it gets more to that what I want

a lot of those 'buttons' and 'pills' you see online and on websites, etc. are actually made in photoshop with a lot of the marquee tool and a lot of gaussian blur applications. they're not rendered, but drawn... but with that little render you've got down below, it looks as if you're getting there!

sure I could do it with PhotoShop ... no big deal...

but its an ego thing ^^ want to have it rendered user added image

I thought somone could tell me about a thin plastic surface or somthing else...

but thx anyway user added image

edit:

I already have tried to put a second surface over it and give it a transparent shader but didnt work ... so now for last rendering I used a layered surface
