Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

I think it's because Maya doesn't support Radeon cards, I have the same problem... I think I saw a thread somewhere about replacing the drivers with those of another ATI card, but can't remember where...

On alias website they have a list of qualified video cards. Usally nvidia cards are better then ATI's.

I have a Quadro fx3400 but had to pay a lot for it and have no issuses with it.

The ATI FireGL were built for workstations working with 3d apps. You can check them out over at the ATI website (I'm an ATI guy too, so I know what you mean). Also, there are the Nvidea Quadros which are really nice. Don't count on those being cheap though. But the big daddy of all graphics cards is made by Wild Cats. Buy from them if you're willing to spend a pretty penny and have the best graphics out there.user added image

2 things --

1) Radeons can be softmodded into a FireGL (and GeForce to Quadro for that matter -- but that requires a nice ole GPU sodder) with a bios flash -- but you have to be 100% careful which BIOS you drop into it -- wrong bios, or even flash failure, and your GPU turns into another 3 letter acronym... POS

2) Omega Drivers can be downloaded via ... well... https://www.omegadrivers.net/

Does anyone know if they support Quadros, though?

I got RADEON x800 PRO and it is buggy sometimes when I edit isoparms in NURBS. But sometimes it drives me NUTS(!) when the view get reeeealllly slow, and later on Maya crashes! My next card will be Wilcat 3DLabs.
