Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

I like it! Good car, and a really good model. By the way, I have a question. Could you tell me, how could I cut a shape in the middle of a polygon...? I guess, it's a really noob thing, but I couldn't find it out till now. all I can do, is just deleting the faces, but there must be a simplier way, i think...

Yeah, I know, don't mention it.
My english sucks.

thanks blomkaal...!!!!

@0k0ska

Some basics:

(A) booleans <Polygons --> booleans>

1. Polygon cube (this is your model)

2. You have to Modal a "negative" with the right shape

3a. move the "negative" into your model (as far as you like to)
3b. Select your Model and than "shift-select" the negative

4a. Choose: <Polygons --> booleans --> Different>

(B) extrude face <Edit Polygons --> extrude face>

1. Polygon Cube (your Model)

2a. Press: <F11> and select a face
2b. Choose: <Edit Polygons --> extrude face>

3. Use the "extrude face - scale tool" (the little colored
boxes) to scale it down

4a. Choose: <Edit Polygons --> extrude face>
4b. Use the "extrude face - move tool" (the little colored
arrows) to move the face, you also can scale it down a little

Play around - you will see this is a powerful method

(C) split polygon & extrude face <Edit Polygons --> split polygon tool>

1. Polygon Cube (Your Model)

2. draw your shape with the split polygon tool onto a face

3. Press <F11> and select a face

4. Choose: <Edit Polygon --> extrude face> and move and/or scale around user added image

hope this short "Tutorial" user added image will help you, if there are any questions, feel free to ask...
