Hardware Render Buffer

Hey I was just wondering what the difference is between the Hardware Render Buffer, and the regular Renderer. I am not sure if one is better or what the use is for them. Can't I just select 'Render Using >Maya Hardware'? I am just wondering in general if there are different purposes, so I can be on the right track with Hardware Rendering.

Thanks a lot

David

Hardware rendering is tailored for use with particles and effects of that kind where as software rendering is more widely used to reder normal object elements

Yeah thanks, i was just wondering more specifically, about the two things with just Hardware Rendering. I am talking about either going to Render Using >Maya hardware, and the doing a render view, or going to Window >Rendering Editors >Hardware Render Buffer. What is the difference between these two modes of Hardware Rendering.
Sorry for not being clear

The only real difference between Maya Hardware and the Hardware Render Buffer is when you render out particles in the Maya Hardware you will get less errors and hassles.... HRB is sort of like quick and dirty but still good for a quick view, but if you want to get good particle rendering then use Maya Hardware
