First model: Computer

Hi every1, I'm new to this forum and to maya software.

I saw some of the free tuts and after testing around a little bit with the enviroment i'm going to start my first model, It's going to be al look-a-like of my PC (which has plexy and UV's inside so it's going to be al lot of detailed work to make all the components....

I started out with the feet where he's standing on and these turned out pretty nice:

The next step was creating a case and giving it some basic shapes, the case is made from a surface and the front is a polygon

that's all i've done so far but i hope it will turn out nice...
i'll add a pic of my pc next time

I've stumbled in to my first problem... When i select the front face and i click extrude nothing hapens... the face just deselects itself
///

Extrude problem fixed itself... it just worked again after selecting and deselecting a few things :s

now i've made basic Drives, the 2 upper drives are going to be CD/DVD drives, the one below the dvd's is a fancontroller and the bottom is going to be a pannel with knobs for my UV's inside the case...

How do i make a round face inside and excisting face to extrude a circle from it ?

it looks fine so far. To smooth those buttons, select them and then do polygons/smooth.

Keep up the good work.

He said he didn't expect me to have come so far so quickly and that the CD tray look cool, Jornkes introduced me to maya a few days ago so he kind of tutored me into this user added image

@ Arran: I've tried the polygons>smooth function before but then it turns out really wierd and spikey :s
