Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Need some serious critiques

Hey, decided to redo my 3d online portfolio/website. The older one is here: https://www.ahearnart.com

This new one will be a big contrast so I'd appreciate some feedback. I want this one to be a simpler, more elegant layout that will show my work off more and be easier to navigate. So how's it look so far ?

I like it! Simple yet stylish...

How will you apply this to that gallery?? Will the images pop up in a seperate window?

Thanks tiddles, not sure how I will have the gallery, probably a shape similar to the style just larger to accomodate. Added an update of how things may look. Critiques? ;]

Looks good, I like it.

The only thing that I could say is thet you might have a bit of wasted space in the bottom right corner of the blog, but if its not an issure its not a problem!

Hi,

here's some critique,
I think the interface looks confusing, (in a way that I don't know where to look first) I would restrict myself only to the stuff that is really needed. (the zen approach) All those round things at the edges of your windows are distracting a bit. Are they frames for buttons? It all reminds me to much of some space fighter interior.
Also I am not sure abou the type. The distance between each letter seems to be to wide. It is very subtle but something like this can make a big difference to reading performance and people actually finishing reading a text.

is a very simple but effective and easy to navigate web page, I am not saying make your website like theirs but I added this more to explain what I meant.

if you want to look at something more elaborate but yet effective check out
https://www.peepshow.org.uk/ (THIS IS NO LINK TO A PORN SITE!!!)

I hope I didn't trash it to much, as I can see that you put a lot of effort in it already, but as you asked for serious critique I thought I mention what comes to my mind.
Also, it doesn't look bad. I can see you thought about layout coulour etc. it is just that it could work better with a little tweaking.

good luck

I have to say I tend to agree with farbtopf - I would lean towards less decoration. I think it is a personal thing though.

If you stick with this design, I might add another colour just to define the frames.

Also, I think the name of your site needs a bit more space, just to make it look less squeezed in.

I agree about the distance between letters. It looks nice, personaly to me, a lot nicer then usual text, but its realy hard to read it. I am not the person to criticize it(i dont know much about design), but i would try to make the frame a bit thinner to save a bit sapce so that the main things would take more space, although I am not sure it would look better. Nice work.
