This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Well, I've got some detail starting up, but I think I'll have to go straight to materials because of time constraints. See you tomorrow gang.

A little update

I know, I'll hurry up and finish before time is due.

I couldn't resist showing off this render I did just now. This is my first textured model and I'm very proud!

The texures will be repainted (it's sooo easy user added image ).

Took some time to round up the model after converting nurbs to polygons (most things got messed up), and to add the confusion today, I tried the backculling option, which wasn't too smart I think.

And RayRay's model is looking really nice!
Go RayRay go!

here is the setup of final shot. it shall be an astoroid kind of thing in space. and out of lack of time the landscape will not get another texture. had enough fun moving some uvs around.

todo list:
- final shot in 1024x768
- shadow adjustment
- texture for body
- no green feet user added image

Textures

I know you're tired of seeing this, but here you go anyway. I want to put displacement maps?? to add metal plating without having to model the cracks. Any tips on those or a better method would be great. Thanks!

RayRay: nope we are not tired seeing your hopper. i like how you made vridge with those lights.

Garry1953: wow that adds some personality to your scene. one suggestion, make the laser hit a weapon that your bug sent out - so him is more hero like user added image

undseth: wow, do i need a license to ride your mecha? i dont want to be squashed inside the arm ...

el_newty: you are in the lead now - you are done. my compliments you made it in time. the idea of putting the mecha multiple times is great, but i wont steal it - it is yours. there will be only one ant in my final pic. user added image

and now i need go back to drawing board - the 30th comes so fast user added image
