Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

I just realised I haven't answered all the questions, so here goes.

Mofo -- About 3 years. Only one year year since I did my only formal training at Escape Studios.

happymat27 --- About 20 mins, so not too bad. But then it's not finished and that's just for one from so I guess it could be better.

boazh -- If you mean lights as in lights coming out of windows on the ship then no. But that will be easy to do and will look call if done right.

legendofzombi -- It is more complex but this model call for that. Yours looks great without it and at the end of the day that's the main thing.

Well here is a slightly closer look at the bridge. The blank section will have some blocks on to give it a bit more depth.

Also rendering another shot which will be up there in a while.

Enjoy

Looking great Tim - any plans to texture this monster? It might look cool with a few blast marks and battle scars - I am having flashbacks of the extra damage stickers that you used to get with the X-Wing and trying to decide whether to make my x-wing look battered or not.

You guys are really getting me geared up to finish this thing quickly and start doing so cool (if not time consuming) animations with it.

I'ma go out on a limb and take a guess on the poly count...
Something between 4 and 5 hundred thousand?

Wowsers, this has to be one of the most complicated and detailed models I have seen.

Simply breathtaking.
