unexpected shadow

hi,

I've got a .png sequence attached to a poly plane, Now as you can see in the picture the shadows generated by maya are the ones of the plane rather then the characters. I am rendering with global illumination using a HDRI file to light the scene. I am using maya 8.0 on a mac.
One solution to my problem was to switch GI off. But the render was 20% slower. So far I haven't found a workaround or anyone who had a similar problem. If someone has an idea how to fix this please let me know.

cheers

cheers, I'll give that a go, even if it doesn't solve this problem. I had the same issue with the plane edges showing up as well.
My transparency channel is connected, I think maya does this by default if you use alpha channel.
