help plz.. some kinda ufo help

hey itsz me again..

i finally did get a little bit of coloring and know how to put a pic on to a poly.

I 've got a backlight ufe shaped light on my room and thougd to make that out in maya with a little army texture on it..
and made the door can open in the lower half of the ship with some engines and engine blasts** althougd theyre pretty wierd but ok i couldn do else**

so this is my ship.... user added image

anyone can give me some tips making the blasts ** in red** looking like a real engine blast..... theyre actually to hold the ship stil in a kind of "parking" mode of the engine i just thougd wha..

well i hope u have some tips and i hope u did understand my meaning of the red blasts and could help me to get them way nicer...
