Evil Lyn

Well I have cracked - For years I have held off but cgtalk have finally gotten me. A HARDCORE MODELLING Challenge based on 80`s cartoons `s - I cant say no. So that`s 3 challenges that I am in now hehe.

As you can see I`m going to do Evil Lyn from Heman.

Well the head is giving me some problems but I think I`m over the worst of it for now - Its so skinny and tail. The face is very ruff for now. Have not done the eyes yet but marked were they are going. The helmet is also very tricky - its just the shape its really strange.

I can already see the helmet is too high up on the head. Here`s me think this one was going to be easy - I was going to do Man At Arms (My fav character of all time) but wanted someone evil.

I think I`m going for a toy look for this one.

Are you allowed to use the same project for both comps ????

I have no more info to give.

I want to make my image plains transparent and normally I just lower the alpha gain but today its just not doing anything. The image plain looks the same at alpha gain 0.1 as it does at 1.0

Any way here is a small update

nice start mate - the head is looking very good so far - though the edge flow around the mouth could maybe do with a bit of a tidy. this is going to be a great costume to model and i'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the pose. user added image

that's odd about the alpha gain - i take it the same thing happens with a new shader or scene?

Yer not worried about being tidy on this one its never going to be animated.

Yer it was working at the start of the project and on my DrDoom project the other day but now no matter what I do it will not work. The only change I made to my PC the last few days is reinstall Maya 2009, but I am still using 8.5 for this one, (only use 2009 for rendering at the mo - got a lot of cool plugins I use to model on 8.5)

Some minor work. Blocked in the upper body and started to make the armor. Also re-did a lot of the helmet including the skull after I made the one for the breast plate.

I was thinking that but I thought it was just me hmmmm another problem - err I need a new PC.

No its not a race just got nothing else to do.

Another update. Tweaked the armer to death and added the spiky parts to the shoulder area and built the tummy armer.
