intersecting cylinders ???

Just wondering if any one can help I am trying to build a bike frame, and i am having a bit of trouble with the frame. Basically I want to have nice topology around where the cylinders intersect, it is fine when they are at 90 degrees but when i try different angles it gets difficult. I can use a boolean but then i find it difficult to get a good edge flow, I have attached a couple of snapshots one at 90 degrees and i would like to do the same with the angles.

If you model like this it will keep the polys all quads, hope this helps .........dave

so if you have one cylinder vertical and the other at say 45 degres how would the topology flow ?

just one more question

did you boolean the two cylinders then bevel the intersection edge, or how did you do it ? and why did you show it a smoothed? sorry to be a pain.

Yes barney I boolean the two together then made sure all the verts were merged together then used the cut poly tool to go around the bottom edge, then added edge loops(you could bevel). for some thing like a bike frame I would use a smoothed mesh with less section (cylinders start with a default of 20) say 8 to 12 make for less modelling........dave

does the bike frame have welds barney? if that is the case you wouldnt have to join the geo at all....dave? as you would be putting welds around each joint you wouldnt see it anyway...just something I saw on a motorbike tutorial.

Took out the edge loops then added a bevel around the base then scaled out the inner bevel, looks like a weld....LOL........dave

LOL smartarse....no in a tut I saw the guy said dont worry about boolean the geo dave....he mad welds for it...anyway horses for courses. I had no intersecting geo on the boat rollcage...all seperate pipes with welds made...LOL
