How do i change view?

I can't at all change views, i can obviously rotate etc, but it seems the center focus point is always the centre of the grid how do i move around my view to make things easier?user added image

After clicking every button on my ketboard i found alt to be the helper user added image thanks anyway

and for quick rotate left or right hit your square brackets

If you select an object, pressing f focuses on that object. This will make your camera rotate around that selected object. If you are trying to change view ports (persp, side, front) press space bar.

I believe the square brackets navigate through the camera move undo queue... where do you get left and right rotation from?

Both, sometimes I need to float around to look at the model, so when I need a quick look I hit the brackets.
