its said that you can create hair rendering with mentalray.. does anyone know how to do this ?

its relatively easy to render fur with mental ray, its just like any other renderer, only problem is, well, as far as i know, you can only do it in XSI, not maya's MR

Hi Carsten,

can't you render it with Maya's own render or is it because other stuff requires Mental Ray?

Yeah I know that one, but I wanted to play with MR's fur, not composite ..

Mental Ray for Maya is still in it's early stages. Hopefully will see something implamented for the next release after Maya 5. They have added alot in Maya 5.
