how do you

how do smooth out a polygon model without converting it into a nurbs or subdivision surface. i keep converting but i would love to know a better way to do it.

Hi,
Under 'Edit Polygons' there are 2 options one is 'Smooth' the other is 'Smooth Proxy' (where you can specify the amount of smoothing by making a duplicate, and editing a mesh)

If of course you just want to give the illusion of smoothness without increasing the number of polys, then you could use the smooth normals command. Edit Polygons > Normals > Soften/Harden

and just so there's no confusion, the smooth option is under Polygon not EditPolygons. user added image
