This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
And BTW, I purchased an exellent book. I just purchased "Maya Character Animation" by Jai-jin Choi. It has exellent tutorials and clear, concise rigging techniques. I recommend it highly....

The cloth looks ok but as you mentioned with a high density mesh it can be a pain (although once the simulation is cached it shouldnt be a problem).
I would do some more work on the face especially around the eye area. It's just not quite there yet (depends though if you're focussing on the cloth or the model...)
I know.....I am going nuts with the eye area...I just can't seem to get it right......I might cut off the head and start it over.....but I will work on it some more before I do that. For now...I am going to continue with the shirt and skirt....

Did you use incremental saves? If not there is an option box next to the file save. When checked on every time you hit control 's' your file will be saved as a different file in the incremental saves folder with the file name.
On to the problem you could try using the Polygons Reduce tool, to decrease the number of polygons you got when reverting back.
Oh shoot....I just was thinking that when I bind this to a skeleton that the shirt and the body are two different meshes.....can you bind them at the same time to one skeleton? yikes!!!
