Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Another image, slight changes to lights and things. I need to fix the lighting on the paint effects now. The mouse images will probably be put on here tomorrow.

More Mouse

The mouse is made of polygons but will be smoothed for the final render.

Fur

I was contemplating the idea of adding fur to the mouse, but it will probably depend on time and whether or not the mouse fur would be visible in the final render, considering on how small the mouse will be. I would definitely like to though, it would give me another Maya skill to learn. I haven't used fur before.

I also want to UV map the elephant and texture it, something else in Maya I have never tried...user added image

good luck with the uv texturing, I ran through a fair few tutorials before the (very) basics started making sense and that was just to add a wall and roof texture to a simple building :headbang: - not got any further than that though.

Sounds like a very good idea leaving the fur unless you have the time.

It's coming on nicely though user added image

Max file size??

I was thinking about making the scene a little more cartoony, given the situation. I would possibly make the elephant's eyes bulge out a little, and the mouth/scream exaggerated. The mouse also must be large enough to see.

Is there a max file size for the final rendered image?... in Kilobytes. I saw 640 x 480 pixels unless hosted on your own website, or is that just for these forum posts, and not the final render?

another image

I added some grass in the cracks of the rock in the BG. I am not sure if I will keep it though. Let me know if I should...
