Default What technique?

I want to try to model the guy from Corpse Bride, and animate him later. I need some help getting started though... What technique would you use for him?

If you mean modelling technique, I would go for polygons. But that is my personal preference.
...and that is how I saved the world.

I think polygon modeling should be relatively easier.
Personal preference, though
