Export/Import question!

Could you tell me how to correctly export a rigged and keyed object and import it into another scene? Also, what should i do if i'd like to for example rotate it and keep its moves unchanged?

forgot to mention that skeleton has ik handles and the rigged poly model has couple of pieces, not combined or whatever.
