Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

I think your defocus is too strong, you need t make some differentiation between the foreground and background elements. Are you doing this in post or in Maya?

Also add some debris and plankton etc in the water little particles should do it just fine nothing special just some silt and dirt.

Well done though it's looking great I think you should make the texturs a bit more detailed though they let it down a bit.

I like it. And yes. I also agree that the defocus is just a bit to high.

Looking pretty cool. I think the fish in the background seem a bit flat because they all seem blurred the same amount, if you see what I mean.

Right now, you could almost see it as the fish are really tiny and up close to the lens or they're far in the background. There's no real distinction right now.

Keep it up!

thanks

Pure_Morning and Peltra: the DOF is done in maya, not to sure on how to make the foreground different from the background other than adding some real soft terrian, the debris, plankton and dirt is on the way as soon as I figure out how to use the particles and as for textures I am waiting for the texturing DVD that Kurt is still doing.

Kurt: thanks Kurt.

mtmckinley: they do look a bit flat now that you mention it, I will see what I can do about them.

Dragonhawk: Your chances have increased but dont forget about the guys over at SimplyLightwave, some good entries there. Good luck.

Thanks for all the positive comments

wow red eyes i like it. although i think there are a bit too many fish in the foreground, and the light shining through the water is a bit too clear but you said you were going to add some dust particles so that should help user added image

Heh heh - just been watching this one from the sidelines up until now. I never realised I had a competitive spirit! Oh well, bang goes my chance of second place!

Seriously though, this is a really nice model, Dae. You are truly a man of many talents flipping so easily between Lightwave and Maya. Best of luck!

lost

Guess what the latest scene will not open up anymore, stupid file, all that i lost was the pose and lighting setup.

Anyway what I have got is nessie in a scene with some underwater terrian and a spot light projecting some water caustics with some fog attached, my question is how do I get the terrian to fade away in some fog separate to the spotlight?
