Lattice extreme deform issues

as you see attached, my eyeball's lattice is creating some interesting artifacts: the the eyeball hierarchy works fine, but the eyelid (the red stuff sticking out of the eyes cornea right now) is deforming farther on the z-axis than the rest of the eyeball. Not an issue in normal circumstances, but on a major deformation like this one, you can clearly see the issue. Ideas? The hierarchy is also attached. You'll notice that there are two nurbs surfaces unparented - those are driven by the eyelid's creation params and therefore needed to be detatched from the lattice.
