for some reason my poly version looks better than the subd's version I have idea why anyway when mirrored its 2994 poly's.

From my limited experience with Sub-Ds, what I do is switch back and forth between Polys and Sub-Ds. I use the polygon to get the main shape and the Sub-Ds for the detail like muscle tone or something.
