Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

hello! Me again...
Everyone must be getting sick of this thread ha ha! The pain thing is that I can only put in an hour or two a night so it is moving a little slowly for my liking.

EVERYBODY!!! CHECK DAE'S COOL MODEL HERE
https://forum.simplymaya.com/showthre...5&pagenumber=3

Hey JANGO thanks for popping in (honoured)

t3logy good to see you and ta for your support

where I am at the moment:
I have remodeled the back leg closer to the original concept. There is a little more detail required in the formation of muscles but I am leaving that for now.

I have also re done the torso with less detail. I will rework that later too. I did not like the excessive detail in there bec it seemed to distract from the rest of the model.

Finally I have done a render with the original concept and the image plane so you can get the idea. Also included a small wire.

If you read all of the above good on ya!

Hey Surfer

Do you have a website? As I'm sticking links on my site still, must do Mikes actually too ( if hes watching: Is that okay Mike?) Your model is slick dude, it has a Manga kind of style to it in some ways.

_J

PS, is that The Mighty Slater on your avatar, or Rob Machado or none of the above??

Hey Jango!
I would love to have a link on your site to mine (www.winteractiv.com) Cool! I will link to your too once I update mine.

Ummm, (Blush!) that is actually me on the avatar at a lovely beach in New Zealand called hot water beach. It has good waves and the most amazing scenery and there is a natural hot spring that you dig thru the sand at low tide and sit in sandy spa pools! Freaky

Here is a pic

or if you wanna see a bigger pic with the people sitting in the sand....

This has absolutely nothing to do with my WIP HA HA!

Hi - Me again

Hey Vietcong - yeah lucky to be living in NZ - You can snowboard in the morning and surf in the afternoon if you really want too. Phew!

Ok here is ANOTHER update... on the wip that just never ends.

I have done the back legs and the claws now. I have also added some more detail and a simple tail so from a modeling point of view the droid is almost finished

Just tighten up the front claws and fix up some wonky geometry. I will be posing the dude soon - when I figure out what he is going to be doing.

Also I will be doing concepts for the other characters in the composition. I might start a new thread for them... Or should I just carry on with this one? Suggestions?

Ah man!
I have been frantically drawing concept sketches but I am not happy with most of them - I dont have much time at the mo to work on this either so my attentions have turned to texureing.

I am using a layered shader for the chrome and adding other details is a pain due to the chrome section being so complicated.

Oh well...

Here is the progress

Comments or suggestions??

Hi Surfer

Looking good so far Dude!! A small suggestion while testing your chrome, and it can be a pain to do, I have been there loads of times, put and environment sphere in the scene so you have something to reflect. It will make life alot easier. Also for the final render you dont have to show it either. Great cheat.
