Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Looking really awesome daverave. Are you rendering in mentalray or just the maya software render-er?

Hi THX1138
Thanks for you comments, At the moment metal ray but that might change as maya hair renders better in maya software, but I think I could uses both and bring together in photoshop..dave

Edit: THX1138 how is the texture colour looking to you, I trust you eye.......dave

I think the color and design look pretty good; however, I recommended learning the mentalray fast skin shader. Go to .thegnomonworkshop.com and register. This link takes you to page 2 of the free tutorials where they have a couple on the mentalray fast skin shader.

You need a light setup to get it working right user added image

Check out how Alex Alvarez set up his scene with the lights , HDRI etc.. I'm watching those tuts right now and learning ...
So if you learn something share it in few word user added image

Looking great daverave, I also agree with Coldwave. A good light setup would make your model look even better. user added image

Trying to get to grips with the fast skin shader, had a tutorial that said map into the diffuse overall colour but for me this did not work wasted a lot of time trying to get it to work. In the end mapped texture into diffuse colour and epidermal scatter colour and changed the lights around as suggested. Any comments would be greatful as I think I have looked at this for to long.........dave
