Water Tower

After browsing through the new 3d World Magazine I saw an excellent pic of a water tower. So i decided to try one of my own.

I'm using this (very low quality) pic as a loose reference.

ok finished the tower, not sure about the ladder yet but i'll leave it for now.

I need to figure out how to make rocks and landscape stuff now. Any tutorials that I could use anywhere?

Ok I've been playing around (my workflow is all to pot!) and I've been playing with the lights. I'm kindof a newbie at lighting so can I have some comments please.

Ps I know the textures are carp / not there at the mo. that's coming later.

PPs The grass / rock shader is a test can I have some comments on that please? cheers

Here's an update.

I'm now working on texturing and adding little touches like the rocks and a few bits of vegetation.

Any comments on the textures? modelling? overall feel?

Small observation.
The wires under the tower, are tension wires to stabalise the tower, so they would be under load, and straight.

Appart from that, your water tower looks great.user added image

Yeah I know that and I took it into consideration when I was modelling it. However I tok some artistic license and made them droop, because when I made them taught it didnt quite look right.

i think an animation of the water tower collapsing.. and having water go everywhere would be really cool!

I wasn't going to animate it, it's already taking up my time when I should be doing other stuff. But you're right it should blow up and go everywhere! user added image Any ideas how it could blow up? It shouldnt just blow up for no reason....

More updates. Started texturing the tower now.

Paint effects for the grass on the rock and procedural shaders for the grass and the tower.

ok peeps. I'm done i think. I can't be bothered to animate so I will leave it as a still.

Any final comments or criticisms? Do you think I need to put a sign on it e.g. "H20" or something similar? possibly as a displacement map?

P.S. Composition is great, nearly photorealistic. I had to look twiceuser added image
