Pre shoot set-up and storyboarding

Hey all,

I was using Maya to set up a rough model of a location we are going to use for a short film. I start mucking about with lights and cameras and thought it would be a pretty cool idea to actually have all the lights and cameras set up in Maya, run a rough storyboard to get an idea of what everything is going to look like. Could save some time on location.

So I'm wondering, is there a forumla for working out how to re-create a few specific lights (eg. how to work out the strength of a standard 75w light bulb, etc) or if there was some type of table that gave you the specific information to recreate a certain light source.

I made a simple model of a light stand and just put a point light in and it seems to work OK but I don't think it's too acurate.

Thanks.

Check This link out, and go to the downloads section and select the last link (Maya). I know its not what you're asking about but it could help.

You could also look at FrameForge 3D as it can load Maya models into your sets.

Good Luck
