hello im new

well i just signed up because this looks like a good place to go when I need help learing maya and general information. i'm in college now and learning game design and want to break into the industry or generally the computer industry as an 3d-modelor animator etc. What i like about it is that its not only limited to games but like pixar animation, movies and stuff. I also noticed that maya and photoshop are probably the 2 most important programs to master if i want to get in.

The current preferred applcation of Games Studios is 3D Studio Max, but most will accept Maya as an alternative.

8.5 is looking pretty MAXy already, wont be long and you wont have to bother making the decision.., Auto desk broke its promise as far as I can see and we are left with a take over.

I've just got 8.5, and i'm very sure its more Maya than Max, the only thing that was different for me was the interactive creation, which for some people could be a good thing. And a tidy up of the menus (which seems a good ideaas they are a bit more intuative) theres no difference to version 6.0, appart from new features etc.

And ive NEVER used max.
